Quality Bras for Cheap D+

Question Posted Friday October 14 2011, 10:54 pm

I am in need of real testimony of a decent bra! I am a 38-40DD, yet just about every bra I own gets ruined within a year or much less time. If you have found an amazing bra and can share your experience with me, I would greatly appreciate it. My budget is under $30. Thanks.

I'm a married man married to a woman who had a similar problem. Early in our marriage I noticed she was replacing her bras quite often. Her reason was that the just didn't last. My cousin at the time just happened to be VP of sales for Playtex and I had the opportunity to visit him in his New York office.

I asked him why my wife could not find a bra to stand up to machine washing. He asked where she was buying her bras and the brands. I told him she purchased no particular brand but most were bought at a local discount store. He then asked my wife's size and we went down to the showroom where I was asked to pick out some bras for my wife. Together we picked out everyday and special occasion bras with and without under-wire.

All were more expensive than what she was purchasing with the exception of the special occasion bras. They were all in what I, at that time, would have considered a moderate price range.

I brought them home and gave them to my wife. Surprise, surprise these bras last 3 to 5 time longer than what she was buying. They were not the least expensive bras made and they were not the most expensive bras made. What they were, were bras constructed from good materiel and sown together properly both to withstand multiple machine washing and the fullness of my wife's breast.

What he taught me is a full breasted woman needs is a bra constructed to hold the weight of her breasts properly so as not to strain the material or the stitching. The material also needs to be of better quality than a smaller breast woman and the stitching needs to be stronger to. Just as important the bra must fit properly.

My advice: Don't buy cheap, but buy good quality. Buy one at a time if need be and build your wardrobe. Check the craftsmanship of the garment and make sure it is constructed properly for your build. Most importantly make sure you are properly fitted.

Most department stores have fitters trained by the manufactures to properly fit you and show how to select a bra. If you have never been properly fitted it is worth the time and effort to get fitted. It cost you nothing and you are not obligated to make a purchase although you should just to wear a properly fitted bra to feel the difference.

Good material, proper construction will extend the life of any item or thing. That includes clothing which includes you bra.
