So, I really like the dell, because its the cheapest. lol i'm using my own money, and well, i'd like to save as much money as possible for future expenses, because college will add up fast. haha
but i also don't want a trashy laptop. so, which one?
*if you know any other laptops in this price range, let me know. :)
Additional info, added Thursday August 4 2011, 1:51 pm: oh and i just looked at the acer, and it includes a limited version of microsoft office, which the others don't. which is a really added bonus, because i really need that, (just word though)

LM answered Thursday August 4 2011, 6:31 pm: Inspiron laptops have always felt super cheap to me; they're kind of flimsy. If you get a Dell, I'd recommend the Studio line, they seem to be better made. However, they've probably gotten better in the past two years, so if it feels solid in your hands, they probably are. I've seen them around campus and they didn't seem to be falling apart, haha.
A couple of my friends have Acer laptops and they seem pretty solid. If you're buying it in a store, I'd try them out before you bought them. I also highly recommend getting a backlit keyboard. I love my laptop but HATE trying to type at night. It's worth the extra money and/or ordering time.
I have an HP laptop. It was 700 dollars last year, and is probably cheaper this year. Here is a similar model (looks-wise, not so much specifications) in your price range:

Honestly, if you're willing to sink about $100 more into this laptop, you'll get a LOT more options. And, if you take care of it, it should last you for years and you'll appreciate the upgraded features. You could easily get a nice laptop in your price range though; just a suggestion!
Oh, and Built NY cases are the best laptop cases, hands-down. Target cases are kind of shapeless and cheap-feeling:

They come in all different sizes and colors on Amazon, search "built laptop sleeve [# of inches your laptop is]"
Again, worth it, it protects your investment, and they are wicked nice looking.
Many colleges also offer discounts on Microsoft Office, and you get every program (even publisher). My school offers it for $39, and my friend can get it for $25. So look in to that, and try not to pick a laptop just based on that.
Lonesome12 answered Thursday August 4 2011, 5:22 pm: first link : its cheaper , 250 GB space , reviews not many problems 100%
second link : more expensive not by much , 350 GB space, reviews mouspad problems
third link : the cheapest , 320 GB, good reviews up to 84%
So , what I would is not get a red color laptop well if you really like the color red and if thats what you prefer but okay if not then dont , get black , so take the second / middle one out , now its between the acer and the dell , the dell gives you more GB's if your going to be storing and downloading things a lot it will come in useful and since its the cheapest you can add another 30 dollars for a good FULL UNLIMITED rightly owned by you edition the new 2011 or 12 lol , and acer is nice but its more money and you get it LIMITED.. so after a time your still going to use the money.. id go with dell it looks great, easy , good reviews , just buy the office thing seperatley and the same cost.. thats my option for you and you will be happy~! :) [ Lonesome12's advice column | Ask Lonesome12 A Question ]
