well you just have to talk to your parents and tell them you're not a little kid anymore. You're heading off to college. Tell them that you need to make decisions for yourself. If they make the decision where you're going to college, you won't be happy and it will be their fault. They don't want to take that blame.. do they?

Try to put them in your shoes. Make them realize how you're feeling. Tell them "how would you feel if I made decisions for you and told you what job you are going to have and where you're going to live?"

Just talk to them honestly and openly about it and try to figure out what the actual problem is. What are they so scared of?

If they are scared because the school might be "dangerous"... well here's some news for you.. college in general is dangerous. There's NO college or university in the world that isn't dangerous... tell your parents that. They need to realize that they can't keep you safe forever. How are you supposed to grow up and explore the world, if they keep you locked up like this?

As for the schools.. like I said- there's no college thats going to be 100% safe. There's always a chance that something bad could happen. But you could find a school thats safer than others. Try looking for smaller schools like Division 2 or 3. Big schools (division 1) are known for party schools and lots of crap goes on. Maybe find a school that's in the city, but not in the center of it? The college I'm going to is in-between 2 major cities in my state. so technically it is an urban school, but its not in the middle of the city. You can also look for a school that is academically advanced. Students that are smart academically tend to stay out of trouble because they are more focused on school rather than parties.

besides those things, you just gotta talk to your parents and figure out a solution. good luck!
