I get pressure on my chest, almost like something in pressing down on it, which makes it really hard to breathe. This started about a year ago, and it's been happening more and more often. It's gotten bad enough that I woke up last night and couldn't get back to sleep for a couple of hours. Also, every now and then I get a really sharp pain in my ribs, almost like someone thrust a knife in them. I am 18 and have never had any heart problems and none on either side of my family that I know of. Granted, I don't know my birth mom, so that doesn't help much. I know I should go get checked out, but I was wondering if anyone has any idea on what is going on? Please and thank you!
Most people get only a very short warning period if any at all. You have had a year of warnings, which have only gotten worse.
The stabbing pain means only one thing:
Dial 911.
Do it now.
Your age has nothing to do with it, and neither does what you know of your family history.
I will make you a deal: You call 911, NOW, and tell them what you have written here. If they say you can wait until tomorrow to go to the doctor, then you do just that, otherwise you need to do whatever the people at 911 tell you.
