My ex was always the same way. He actually forced it. Explain to him that you are too nervous and that you aren't ready. Let him know you will make the choice to do that once you are ready and stable to do so. If he does not understand your wishes then he is not worth it. If he is a good boyfriend and respects you then he will understand your wishes and wait it out. So think about what could happen.
