Hair Purple? Will the part I bleached go back to normal?
Question Posted Tuesday July 12 2011, 7:21 am
So, I dyed the TIPS of my hair purple, and I used the bleach first, and when the bleach was done, it was an awful auburnish color,so then I put the purple in and it came out okay in the end, not exactly what i wanted. I only let it stay in for the minimum time period because I only want it for a few weeks of summer. My question is, will it wash out by itself and the bleach and purple both fade back to my natural hair color? or will it fade to the bleached color and will I have to dye my hair to my natural color again? I dont want to get a haircut because I'd be cutting a lot off. Please Help! :)

You will need to color your hair back to your natural color. I'm a cosmetology student working on my last semester. just don't over process our hair if you can help it. Always take good care by conditioning it. Just don't do alot of processes at once. Your hair needs time between processes especially when you bleach. Just another tip - when you rinse the conditioner out use cool water. This will close your hair cuticles and seal in the conditioner. If you rinse with hot water it just washes the conditioner out. Hope this helps [ scubalin's advice column | Ask scubalin A Question ]

In fact is it purple right now, when your color fades it will leave a slight purple tint and bleaching your hair removes the pigment so it cannot fade, so you either have to cut it off or dye it back. unfortunately, when you bleach hair, not only does it completely fry your hair.. but it stays that way for a long time. that's why so many people don't recommend bleaching hair by yourself. if you absolutely must bleach hair, do it at a salon because its less damaging and they know what they're doing. You think you might know what you're doing... but all hell could break loose and everything turn out horrible. i've had it happen to myself haha. Thats why i only go to salon's now. yeah they're expensive.. but you have to ask yourself.. is it really worth it? [ lovealways1221's advice column | Ask lovealways1221 A Question ]

Of course, if you used permanent purple hair dye, it won’t matter that you only left it in the for the minimum amount of time - it's permanent. It will fade, but it will not fade completely.
If you want anything like your natural hair colour again, go to a salon and ask for professional help. If you buy a store bought hair dye, you are more likely to make an even bigger mess of your hair.
Anyone with half a brain about hair dye will recommend that you cut the ends off rather than try to dye them back to your natural colour. You’ll end spending a lot of money for something you are unlikely to be very happy with. Dying your hair 3 times within a few months (especially with bleach and purple in it) is unlikely to be something even a really skilled colourist can correct.
