Could I be pregnant? I only started birth control 2 days ago.

Question Posted Thursday June 30 2011, 3:03 pm

On Tuesday night really late I had I had unprotected sex. I just got off my period and I started taking birth control. I took it two days before I had sex. So I'd had only taken 2 pills I wasn't sure if he came in me or not. I went to the bathroom a little while after and saw that clear liquid was in my underwear sometimes when I've had sex before it was there but not this much. The day after it happened I didn't feel sick or anything. Now it's two days later and I'm still taking my birth control And my stomach hurts a little but its more like a hunger hurt cause I haven't eaten today. Could I be pregnant?

You could be hun! . When on the pill always remember the '7 day rule.' Apply this rule when you have just started the pill, have missed a day, have thrown it up, or just when ever you are concerned that you may have missed 1. this rule will always help to make sure the pill is safely doing it's job and you don't get pregnant. Hope this helped. good luck :)

Short answer: yes, you could be pregnant. Birth control takes at a minimum seven days to become effective, and my doctor told me to wait at least one month for it to be fully effective. I'd recommend you take the morning-after pill (emergency contraception); it's $25-50 dollars and you need to be 18 to get it (the box says 17, but most pharmacies insist it's still 18).

Also, check out this site to see if the pills you are currently taking could qualify as EC.

Your chances are RELATIVELY low (because you just got off your period) but sperm can live in your body for days, and when you ovulate you could get pregnant. Keep taking your pill and don't wait between packs - EC may make your period irregular as it is, and skipping days will only make it worse.

Even when taking birth control there is still a risk of getting pregnant.. It is highly unlikely to get pregnant while on birth control but there is still a chance, my advice always use a condom with or without birth control if you dont want to get pregnant.. also you had only been taking the pill for two days so your chances the birth control was already working is slim... try reading the package to find out how many days it take for the birth control to start working or call your doctor or pharmacist... if you are worried about pregnancy I suggest you wait a few weeks and take a test or go to the doctor... also remember to always always use a condom especially if you are taking an antibiotic while taking birth control antibiotics reduce the effectiveness of birth control good luck :) also remember your stomach hurting could just be a side effect of the birth control pill you have just started taking it and your body is just getting use to it
