We have for some time used food as a reward and in some cases punishment, by withholding certain foods. This system of using food, usually junk food, as a reward and punishment has lead and feed our addiction to junk food.
I have seen many different articles on the subject along with many different ways to break the cycle of junk food addiction and who is to blame. Placing blame does not and will not in my estimation break the cycle.
In extreme cases where one cannot break the cycle of addiction on their own therapy with a trained counselor may help. Their are reasons why we reward ourselves with junk food and they are not always good reasons.
Mostly though if you are the type of person who can draw a line in the sand and say it stops here and then have the personal fortitude to stick with it, cold turkey so to speak; it is a matter of substitution. Instead of that fast food burger find something else to take its place that is a healthier choice such as a good salad. Instead of a candy bar try a carrot or celery stick.
