Question Posted Friday April 29 2011, 11:11 pm

What does it mean when a guy says maybe when you ask him to a Dance?

11-year-old boys are hard to read maturity wise. He may be interested in girls and then at other times more interested in action figures and childhood games that a relationship or in this case a dance.

As you know girls mature faster and he may feel awkward about dancing, being asked by a girl or just not ready or interested in the dance at all.

There's a few things that could be happening 1) He doesn't know if he wants to go 2) He feels intimidated by you and 3) He's just not into you right now and doesn't want to hurt your feelings or 4) The dance means little or nothing to him but a whole lot to you.

If I were you I would go to the dance with your girlfriends and stick with them and wait to see who asks you first and gve him no mind unless he does. If he's there and genuinely likes you he'll come to you. Don't go to him and make sure to dance with multiple partners as that's standard for most dances.

BTW, it's actually pretty much outdated to try and go with a guy to a school dance unless sadie hawkins or prom. Most teens go with friends and wait and see who approaches. Your request obviously caught him off guard so if he doesn't come to you assume he's not interested.
