So basically I posted on here before about how I have really strong feelings for my best friend. And how he had a mystery girl and I wanted to know whether or not it was me. Well basically I decided it just couldn't be me and well I got pretty upset trying to accept it and move on...and that's when one of my friends I hadn't spoken into a while (also mutual friends with the guy I like) told me I have nothing to worry about and asked me if there was something going on between us cause she's noticed he treats me alot differently and whatnot. And that's when she called me to tell me something cause she could see how upset I was getting over him. She then told me that he told her anything, and that I'm not meant to know yet..but she had to tell me before I moved on. She told me that he does really really like me, but he wants to stay single for a little bit longer. And how if we end up together he's 100% committed to me and how the thought of me ending up with anyone else really upsets him. He also said he's scared of relationships because of his ex and is still struggling to get over her. He told her he will talk to me about all this and tell me he likes me in person, and that he wants to know exactly how I feel. I should be happy the most amazing guy likes me but I'm struggling to believe it...he hasn't contacted me for the last two days at all and now I'm worried...then today I read something I really didn't want to see...he said on fb how he wants to stay single and "doesn't want a girlfriend for a long time cause it only leads to heartache and fights" I was hurt by this because I want to be with him and I know I'm alot different to his ex, I would never ever hurt him like that, ever. I understand his lifestyle and whatnot and I wouldn't ever dream of hurting him like she did. I just feel like giving up, maybe we weren't meant to be after all... :(

Cherokee answered Monday April 25 2011, 12:42 am: The reason why he is drawing himself from you is because he is afraid to get hurt again. His ex gf maybe never intended to hurt him but at the end left him with heartache. He see's himself falling for you and is just afraid of the consequences. He doesn't know what may happen in the relationship whether you may hurt him or he may hurt you. It seems as if he really cares for you and doesn't want to jump in a relationship with you until he is stable mentally. The only way you will understand how he truly feels about you is if you come out to him and let him know how you feel. Because if you never tell him you will miss your opportunity. Just call him one day and ask if you guys can meet up and then start pouring out your feelings and letting him know how you feel and that you would never hurt him.
Oh, and about the fb post don't worry about that. what he said he didn't mean. It was just how he felt at the moment it's not permanently. trust me feelings change in a amount of seconds he could have just been depressed! Good Luck! [ Cherokee's advice column | Ask Cherokee A Question ]
