So, lately my life has been so chaotic and busy I somehow ended up being quite stupid with my birth control pills.
Basically, I finished my pack on Wednesday, and was then supposed to have the week of placebo pills, but I wanted to skip my period due to various reasons, and my doctor said it would be fine. However, I forgot to take the pill on Thursday, so my period started sometime on Friday. However, because I was so tired and my head was so full off things, I took the first pill of the next pack like I originally intended to on Friday evening.
Now, I'm currently on my period and taking the pill like I would have normally, since I didn't think I should just stop it.
Will my period finish within the next few days, like normal? And then I just keep on taking the pill for the next few weeks and take the placebo ones in the end.
Any comments on this would be appreciated, I'm pretty annoyed at myself for being so stupid about this.

Firstly, if you're sexually active then make sure you use an additional form of contraception, such as a condom, for 7 days as your body is going to think you've missed a day and you may not be protected.
Your period should end in a few days but it may be longer or shorter than usual. This is nothing to worry about. Take the rest of the pack including the placebos then start your next pack as you would normally. You may notice some changes in your cycle, for example if you usually get your period on your second placebo day then you may now get it on your third etc. Again, not a cause for concern.
My doctor has told me it's safe to run pill packs back to back as long as you don't do it for more than three months at a time. So take three packs back to back, then at the end of the third pack take the placebos. However, it's quite common for your periods to be heavier and more painful if you do this.
