tattoo ideas?

Question Posted Sunday March 13 2011, 11:32 pm

So I'm looking to get my first tattoo next month. I'm having a really difficult time trying to figure out what I want. I don't want it huge but I don't want a real small one either. Also I want it to have meaning. Nobody has died that's close to me and its too weird to put my family on my body. What would be some good ideas for me? I'm looking to get it on my back somewhere. I don't really like the classic tattoos, you know hearts and crosses and stuff. I love animals, dirtbikes, my family, my bestfriend. I'm somewhat of a country girl. Any ideas, general or specific, would be helpful.
PLEASE & THANK YOU!

honestly I feel that the only tattoo anyone should get is if it has a personal reason. Don't get a tattoo just to get one, you'll regret it. What about quotes? Song lyrics? A country girl saying. Hope I helped some =)

For the size, the artist will acutally take the layout you print off and make a small, medium, large stencils and trace were you want it and see if you like the size. At first I wanted mine small, but when he traced it were I wanted it, I realized I wanted it bigger :P

for the symbolism, maybe look up "symbolic meanings of animals" or objects. Mine is an Native American wolf, because it represents my love for solitude, culture, mysteriousness, all the qualities that represent me.

and maybe sketch out random things that represent you (feather=freedom, or a circle=family/unity) and take your time dont rush, that thing is gonna be on you forever

I don't have specific suggestions, but wanted you to know that quality tattoo shops are staffed by artists who choose skin as their medium, or one of them.

With their artistic mind and eye, they can create an image based on your thoughts, like what you've posted here. They can also reproduce just about anything that you bring in.

*I* think that you best bet would be to visit a recommended shop and sit down with one of their artists to see what they can come up with. There is typically no obligation if you do this.

Good luck with it!
