How to write a sad story 14/f
I don't do happy endings. For 12 years I've been exposed to all sad, depressing stories and movies. If a story makes me cry, I know there's a lot of emotion in there, and I like being able to write a story that brings a tear to someone's eye. Thing is, I'm still learning. I'm currently working on a story where a small child finds and befriends an ancient monster. In the end he dies. How can I really cram some emotion in this without making it seem overdone or exaggerated? All answerers, thank you!
~Also. Sorry if this is in the wrong category.

The saddest stories to read are ones that come from the author's heart. Write about something you're passionate about and it should go well. ]
maybe make the kid fall in love with the monster, like its some little girl thats been turned into a monster and has been for centuries. or the child's parents die and the monster is the only thing he has in the world. or, maybe there could be a "twist", like we find out the monster is really the child, himself, just a different part of him. like, the shy, sad side. and then when the monster dies, the kid does, as well.
i don't know, just spit-balling. :) good luck ]
