I'm 15, female. Every time I get on Facebook, I see all my friends having fun on their weekend. I'm the only one who stays home, crying cause of my terrible life. I'm not allowed to go anywhere. My dad says I shouldn't even have friends. I wanted to have three friends over, but my dad said no, no , & no. I had to cry for two straight days just for him to say yes, but still, he fought. I can't go to any parties, I can't see any friends. I have to be at home all the time. When he goes to friends house. When my brothers can do whatever they want. No one understands me in this family. I never hang, or do anything on my weekends. Which makes me think of real bad stuff, like running away, or anything just to ruin my life. I don't know what to do. I've been invited to go to a quincenera today, a party, my friends turning 15, but still, I can't go.
I'm guessing that he had someone in his family, (sister, mother, aunt, cousin, maybe even a daughter older than you), that lived life on the wild side and he's afraid of that for you. Teen pregnancy, drugs, you name it. It's a scary world for parents.
Have a real heart-to-heart with your Dad. Let him know that you're a good person and can be trusted to make the right choices and do the right thing. If YOU are the "wild child" that caused the lockdown, then ask him how you can go about regaining his trust. Little by little...
