weight loss competition and really wanting to win!

Question Posted Thursday February 17 2011, 12:58 am

19/f

Okay so here is the deal. I live with my boyfriend and his mom two sisters and their boyfriends hahaha and well we each teamed up for a weight loss competition, cause we are all a little to a lot over weight. Anyways, i am about 5'3" 1/2 160 pounds and my boyfriend is 6'0 even but is 375. He is more than willing to try he is just afraid of getting a lot of loose skin if he were to lose the weight and I sometimes lack motivation. ANYWAYS what are some tips and tricks to that we can do together that is fun to help us lose weight and get us onto the road of getting more in shape? Oh and to win the competition of course :)

Sincerly, T

in reference to lose skin, the only way to prevent this is to lose weight slowly, and build muscle, so theres something for the skin to cling to.

I say the best way to lose weight is to be calorie conscious, and so you need to identify how many calories you eat in a day, then slowly decrease the number of calories you eat. So if you are eating 3000 calories, eat 2700 for a week, then 2300 for a week and so on until you are burning more calories than you are eating.

the only way to lose weight is to lose more calories than you are eating. That means more excercise, less food. what you do eat, needs to be healthy. So half the plate of fruit and vegetables, 1/4 of the plate lean protein like chicken or shrimp, 1/4 of the plate carbohydrates, and a little fat.

When eating, eat consciously. By this, I mean cut small amounts, put you knife and fork down when chewing, and chew 25 times. Then pick up you knife and fork and and take a small amount, chew and put them down, and so on. This enables you to eat less, because you are thinking about eating. This gives you plenty of time for your stomach to tell your brain that you are full. Also, dont finish all the food on your plate because you dont want to waste it, even if you are full. When you think you are full, stop eating and put the food away. If you are hungry again later, eat more, but dont eat for the sake of it.

Also, finally, make sure that you dont go for seconds. I understand that maybe you may think you want more, but wait 20minutes, and you wont want seconds. Its natural for us to want more after eating, but a wait will ensure that you dont overeat.

Hope i helped, and if you need anymore advice, feel free to ask :)
