Question Posted Saturday January 29 2011, 12:06 pm
hey i gotta test coming up really soon, so reply ASAP. thank you! so i just want to know the spanish terms of "is"- esta, estas, estan, estoy, estamos. when do u use them? can someone clarify that? For example you say "you would use esta if the sentence....." blah, blah and for the rest of them. im kinda confused, thank you again.
If you wanted to say "I am tall", you wouldn't use estar, you would use the verb ser because its a characteristic of your personally that remains the same. "Soy alto(a)".
Jackieee answered Saturday January 29 2011, 4:29 pm: Use "estar" with the acronym HELP:
H - Health (I am sick--Yo estoy enfermo)
E - Emotion (We are sad--Nosotros estamos tristes)
L - Location (He is in Mexico--El esta en Mexico)
P - Present Progressive. A.K.A. english words that end with -ing. (She is swimming--Ella esta nadando)
-AR verbs end with -ando
-ER/-IR verbs end with -iendo
*You probably won't have to use the "P" in "HELP" but, better safe than sorry! [ Jackieee's advice column | Ask Jackieee A Question ]
