Ok so I'm finally in 11th grade so I get to go to the junior/senior prom :) I'm super excited, I already have a date (my boyfriend of over a year) and a dress (it's short so I won't trip on it because I am accident prone lol and it's dark blue so I don't have to worry so much about spilling stuff on it) and all of my friends and I are going to go out to eat before prom and then after it we're going to go hang out somewhere. I've never been to prom, so I don't really know how it goes. I know it's different for every school, but does anyone have any advice so I can make it the perfect prom night? Any thing I need to have that might be easy to overlook? Also, if anyone has any experiences they'd like to share, I'd be happy to hear it :) Thank you!

After prom, I wouldn't suggest going somewhere other than to sleep. You're going to be exhausted as hell; my friends and I were all passed out in the limo on the ride back. Most of my friends went to a hotel or something to pass out, and then hang out the next day.
Other than that, relax and have a great time. I'm an awkward kid who hates dancing, but on prom night, I just let it go and spent the whole time on the dance floor. If you put your worries aside and just have fun, it'll be one of the best nights of your life. :) [ SarcasticGreetings's advice column | Ask SarcasticGreetings A Question ]

Your hair, nails, shoes, etc. may not be perfect, but don't worry about them. Try not to get a table too close to the speakers, or else you'll spend the whole evening shouting over the music. If one of your friends is driving, make sure he/she stays completely straight and sober. Don't be afraid to ditch your friends or your date if they do something that's dangerous, stupid, or humiliating. Otherwise, just relax, have fun, and enjoy the evening. It'll be one of the high points of your life. (My senior prom was memorable: the girl I took spent most of the night dancing with my best friend. Things went downhill after that. I saw her again 15 years later; she was a security guard. As soon as she recognized me she went for her gun, then remembered she couldn't shoot me in public.) Anyway, hope you have better luck than I did! [ Ignatz's advice column | Ask Ignatz A Question ]

My best advice? Make sure you have everything properly planned. My group and I planned everything a few weeks ahead of time to make sure that if something went wrong, we had time to fix it. We also had a back up plan for everything. Another tip is to make sure everybody in your group is in the know. Let everybody know where you're taking pictures, where you're going afterwards, what you're doing the next day if anything, and how much everything will cost.
Another tip, like I said above, is to plan everything in advance! Nails, hair, the corsages, the limo, restaurant reservations, etc.
Other than that, just live it up! Dance, take a TON of pictures, and just have a good time.
