Concert Attire

Question Posted Sunday December 19 2010, 12:58 pm

I am going to a concert, All Time Low, finally, I've been waiting to see them for SO long. Anyway, I hear after concerts they always have hang out sessions for anyone that wants to come, where they will sign stuff and just talk, they like to do that in Philly and small places, the concert I am attending is in Philly. So, since I will probably be seeing them in person and we may possibly meet, I'm already planning an outfit. I already know I want to wear converses, because they're comfortable sneakers and they look cute too (: and probably my favorite skinny jeans but how should I do my hair and what type of shirt should I wear? A blouse, tee shirt, flanel? I would like to be comfortable but look cute enough to not necessarily turn the guys' heads but for a guy in the audience to talk to me (especially because I am going with my best friend and she's a model). I am not aware of how hot it gets inside concerts but I'm guessing with all the girls screaming for alex or jack and trying to all be towards to front, it will get pretty tight and hot. So, any help would be appreciated, thanks so much! I am a 16 year old female.

If you go to an outdoor concert, you have the weather to deal with. If you are near the stage at a venue with no seats, be careful not to get trampled on. If you are at an indoor concert with seats, you can pretty much wear whatever you want. Some places allow cameras, find out ahead of time. If you want to, you can try to sneak in a pocket camcorder for YouTube memories. However, doing so would risk the pocket camcorder either being taken to the office where you may retrieve it later, or it may be taken by security and you will never get it back; thus, one of those cheap $20.00 pocket camcorders might be a good idea (throw away type, but probably not in high defination). Some artists actually put a sneaked in pocket camcorder video on their favorite list, if it is really interesting. Also, if you get permission by the artist's management to videotape them (really hard to do) then you can bring in your permission proof, whatever that would be.

Your hair, remember the people behind you, they want to see the concert, so no high hair, no hats.

Go ahead and bring a purse. A cross body purse would be good, you can dance at your chair, with your purse hanging over your shoulder. Never leave your purse unattended. The last concert I went to was at the Hollywood Bowl, 10/1/10, I left my purse on my seat for only a moment, and low and behold, a little girl, about 11 years old, sitting next to me, was fiddling around with my purse. So I put it over my shoulder, cross shoulder wise, and danced while wearing it. A small cross shoulder purse would be lighter weight.

You can wear heels or boots, but if you can bring a pair of sneakers in case your feet need a rest, or just for after the concert, that would be wise.
Try to look nice. Most concerts are filmed, and you may be on film, you never know.

Do your own thing pretty much, as far as makeup and hair, just remember there are dangers at concerts. Your hair could be pulled. Once someone from the balcony above me jumped and he landed on me and knocked me down.

All in all, concerts can be safe, and remember to have fun.

This is at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia in March if I pulled the right details up. When it comes to clubs it's usually a General Admission set up where first to get there gets to stand closest to the stage in the end.

You have to take into account a few things at club shows. Number 1 you are packed in quite often like sardines. This will mean you could be roasting and especially so if you have a winter jacket on. Wear loose fitting clothes and comfortable shoes.

Number 2) comfortable shoes are an absolute must. In clubs you could be standing there on the floor in the same spot for several hours before the main band hits the stage and when that happens expect to stand for about 90 minutes more to 2 hrs depending on their set. If you're in shoes or boots that don't feel good after a few hours it's murder.

Go with the outfit you have selected and make yourself look as you normally do and don't try anything fancier as this is a T-shirt and jeans thing.

You're right about one thing and it's especially bad and sometimes dangerous in a small club to have a popular band there. People will do everything to surge to the front for the headlining act so be careful there.

My recommendation is to call the venue and ask who is promoting the show. It's probably Live Nation as they do 90% of world concert promotion and find out the set times (for when they go on) for the headliner and show up an hour before so you don't wind up standing for hours. While you won't be at the front at least you'll see them and be comfortable.

Don't bet on meeting them for free either as usually people have to pay for that unless it's a band that isn't established or has a policy where they do this for free like all bands should but don't. Go with what you had planned as it will work.

If this show were in an arena I would tell you to wear the same thing. As long as it's comfortable and you can sit there for hours without it not being tight or restrictive you're fine.

It sounds like you've never been to a concert or haven't much. The biggest thing I can tell you about clubs is to drink tons of water and the same in arenas. In a lot of arenas the air isn't that great, it's hazy and your throat dries up. Regardless of the venue find out when the main act is on and dress comfortable.

i'm also a 16 year old female & i always go to concerts in philly!:) i usually wear what you're gonna wear, skinny jeans & converses. it's probably going to be veryyyy crowded & hot in there, so for your hair do something you're comfortable with, like keep it straight or wavy or whatever. if it gets too hot you could always put your hair up. for a shirt, you might want something loose cause it's going to be very hot, or like a vneck tee or something. you don't have to get all dressed up or anything. also, they usually sell the band merchandise at the concert, so you could buy an all time low shirt there. you're so lucky you're seeing them! have fun, i'm sure you'll look great !
