why do i always feel so crappy??

so i'm eighteen girl and i dont know whats wrong with me but i'm always feeling really crappy. i'm not sick or anything. but i just don't feel good. as in, i'm not happy. all of my friends are always hanging out and making plans and they ask me to come with but i always say no because i'm not in the mood to be around people and i always just want to go home and sleep and be by myself. what is wrong with me? i used to be so social and happy.. now i'm just always in a bad mood. yes there was a lot of crap that happened in the past, so that could affect my mood. but that was in the past, and i'm trying to forget about it and move on. but i just can't seem to make myself happy again or in a good mood. i used to love shopping and going out to the movies. now all i want to do is come home and lay in bed. what do i do to get myself back to normal???

I have been the same way since my father has committed suicide. What you should do, is get a journal, and write. I have found that writing really helps you get out your feelings, and hopefully your mood will improve! (:

Sometimes I am like that too. I lost my bestfriend because she just I guess you could say turned bad. Now this year is my worst year and I hang out with a group with a different personality then me and I try to fit in, and it is hard this year I have had people stealing from me very expensive stuff, and just uggh. I think to make you get yourself back to normal is a best friend I know you have them but try making friends with a guy I have a best guy friend that makes me happy all the time and I can always say I don't know what I would do without you and he is someone that always says he loves me and I think that would help alot. I know you have friends (girls) but try having really close guy friends they are kind of an extra more i don't know how to explain it but that really helps. If you don't want to do that I agree with this try getting a boyfriend that turns your whole life around(: Also my best guy friend was my ex(: see boys can come in handy.!

ok well i was really sad once but then i had a great friend,he new how to make me happy but nothing worked then he asked me to be his girlfriend and boom!,i was happy and if you dont have a boyfriend you should try to get one.

Hey,
Basically your allowing yourself to be put down even if you don't realize. Your letting you're past experience take over you. Have will power and make sure it doesn't. Only YOU can take control of YOURSELF, and you're emotions. Try and force yourself to go out more and hang out with you're friends,because soon enough you'll realize how fun it is! And how much your missing out by saying no. You've had enough days to mope around, its time to get back on you're feet! And overcome this emotion. Now, hold you're head up high and STOP feeling sorry for yourself! It may be difficult, but try to be optimistic! Realize you only live once, just once. You don't have time to be upset and stay in you're room! If you do that, you won't have time to..have FUN. This is you're own time and moments of life you're messing with, take control of you're life and live like a girl you're age should ! hopefully what you need! Good luck and don't fret.

Try and think back to when this first started and if there was a trigger. That's important to figure out. Also, write the thoughts you are having down on paper each day. That will help later when you talk to adults and a psychiatrist.

It sounds like you need one but you aren't crazy and don't need to be to see one. That's just an erroneous stigma. What this sounds like is onset of depression as everything you have described about yourself and life right now are classic symptoms. When grouped together like this it indicates there is a problem.

Family doctors are the worst people to approach when it comes to mental health. They aren't trained or specialists and just prescribe stuff or send you to a hospital if the situation warrants it.

The hospital is where you need to start at. Go to an emergency room and tell them what you told us and that you want to be seen by someone who can figure out the problem and treat it. A psychiatrist on call will do that.

They will likely prescribe medicine and give you treatment. They can ask you to stay to be observed and they can only hold you more than 72 hours if you're a threat to yourself or others ie: delusional, suicidal.

But this does sound medical and needs to be checked into by a doctor. And yes, it's considered a medical emergency when these signs are all grouped together. It's not something as you can see by now that just goes away on its own.

The moment social life, regular routine, regular life becomes this hard to do and things change with moods it's indicator things aren't right.

If you should find your moods going from happy, to elated to depressed and rapidly changing get to a doctor asap as we could be looking at bipolar disorder especially if you are having any weird thinking, visions or grandiose thoughts and ideas.

It seems to me there's two possibilities here. One is that all that "crap" in your past, whatever it is, is resurfacing and should be dealt with in therapy. The other is that you have plain old, garden-variety depression ands should see about getting a prescription from a psychiatrist to help.

I know both of these suggestions involce therapy of some sort. But believe me, I don't automatically think that shrinks, therapy and medication are the solution to everything! It's just that the symptoms you describe are CLASSIC symptoms of depression. It happens to huge amount of people and it's nothing to be ashamed of. The answers are found in involvement, exercise, therapy and medication. You put all those together (after finding the right medication), and I guarantee you'll feel better.
