Hey girl! I'm a cheerleader for my school and the captain of t. I have also been cheering all star levels since 5th grade. So what I have found to be the top things to work on are the following...
------------------------

•work on your muscle strength.
-if you are a bigger girl, well not even that but if you know you will not be a flyer, work on your arms and legs. If you are smaller and/or very flexible, work on you flexibility and leg strength. Also this will help you hit all your motions tighter which is great to do because if you have loose motions you will look bad and they want people that look good while hitting motions in a cheer or dance.
•work on your attitude.
- this is one of the key things in cheerleading because if you have a bad attitude at any time they will be like nope
she's not the one we want on our team. If something goes
wrong in a stunt or something bad happens, just keep your
chin up and keep a good attitude about it all.
•also work on flexibility.
-it will help your jumps if you work on you right/left/ and middle spilts because they will make you very flexible. Stretch alotttttt and you will be lots more flexible haha. Hope this helped I'll be glad to tell you more if you want more advice! Good luck!

Have you ever watched a cheer competition? If you go on to youtube.com, there's plenty of videos of cheer teams performing. If you watch the indivual girls, you'll notice that the good ones are really tight in their motions, and they know where their motions are supposed to be. They also have a ton of facials. All of these are really important in a cheerleader because a cheerleader is a performer. The attitude is also important. If you have a crappy attitude, no one is going to want you to be on the team, regardless of how good you are. No one will trust you in a stunt, and no one is going to be nice to you. So attitude is important.

As for the conditioning, literally anything and everything will help. Cheer takes ALL of your muscles, so you have to tone each of them. Running is also important because cheerleaders need to have a lot of stamina, especially since they dance, cheer, tumble, stunt and yell, all without taking a break, and a lot of the time at the same time. So just get out and go runnning. Do some V-Ups (google! =]) and anything else that you can do. Good luck!
