Yellow answered Friday February 11 2011, 3:48 pm: You should sign up for softball! You have to face your fears! You might just find that you are actually really good at softball. But, if you end up being bad at softball, don't give up right away! I don't play basketball or softball, but I totally understand how you feel. I play soccer, and I get super nervous before every game. I can't help it. I usually worry that I won't be able to play well. But, I've found out that when I get super nervous, I either end up playing my absolute best games or I play my worst. When I don't play very well, it's because I let my nerves get to me, and I am not able to relax my mind. When I play my best, I calm myself down and I don't worry too much about making mistakes. So, try not to let your nerves get to you! And giving something a try is better than not doing anything at all! Trust me! [ Yellow's advice column | Ask Yellow A Question ]
lovealways1221 answered Monday December 13 2010, 9:18 pm: Hey what is this negative attitude..?
If someone offered you a job to work for the president of the united states, would you take it? Yes it would be hard.. But it's worth it right?? Why would you let something so small stand in the way of you having a blast?
In your case, why are you letting conditioning rule your decisions? YOU have to control your life. You can't have fears control your life. YOU control your fears.
First thing, you need to erase that negative attitude and say I CAN DO THIS! have self esteem. Have courage. Don't be a scary cat. If you don't sign up, you could be missing out on a great opportunity to make new friends and have a great time!
What if someone came up to you and said- do you like softball? And you say- yes. They say- why don't you play it as a sport? What are you gonna say? Because I am too scared to injure myself??? NO! stand up and be mature and have the courage.
Also, you have to realize that you can't live in a bubble forever. You're gonna end up getting hurt in life, whether it's rejection, physical hurting, emotional hurting etc, you can't protect yourself all the time. Yes i understand that you don't want to harm your body, but how are you expected to go through a challenge without taking some risks and giving effort and sacrificing something like your health?
What's the worst that can happen? Sprain ankle? Torn ACL? maybe a broken bone? Idk about you but people in my school love to show off bruises and injuries because it makes them look tougher and more bad ass. Do you really want to be known as the scary cat girl who is too scared to join a sport because she is too scared to get a little rough and banged up? Or do you want to be known as the girl who can withstand any challenge and will give effort 100 percent of the time and will sacrifice herself for her team and who is really tough and won't deny a challenge?
