When to start BC pills? I've always had really irregular periods (I'm 18) and I had my "last" period around Oct. 27 - Nov. 1 then had light bleeding/spotting ~Nov. 6 for a few days. I recently was prescribed Loestrin 24 FE and was told to start it on a Sunday, which is today. I took my first BC pill but I don't know if I misunderstood the nurse...was I suppose to take it the first Sunday of my period? Is it okay that I began my BC pill although I'm not on my period? Will it reduce its effectiveness? How long will I have to wait before having sex without a backup method?

I know for my birth control, which is not yours, I was supposed to take it the first sunday after my period started. Different doctors recommend different things though.
But the idea behind birth control pills is to keep you from ovulating, so if you already ovulated than it will be more or less ineffective until next month. :-/ ]
