Amazon Kindle Questions, please help! I am considering getting an Amazon Kindle. The Kindle is $189 for the 3G + Wifi version.
My question is, do you have to pay monthly for the 3G or not?

No, you DO NO have to pay for the 3G. I've had mine for about 3 months and the 3G always works. Amazon wants you to connect with them.... for obvious reasons. Some more good information here on this subject: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ]
I found a bit of information on this already that I think will be beneficial for you.
It seems that you don't need to pay any special monthly fee for the 3G since it comes with the Kindle for free. You can use it to download books or even surf the internet. The extra $50 that is charged with the Kindle 3G, compared to the Kindle WiFi, covers that basic 3G cost.
Straight from the Amazon page it does say:
"No Monthly Wireless Bills or Annual Contracts
No monthly wireless bills or commitments. Amazon pays for Kindle's wireless connectivity so you won't see a monthly wireless bill. There is no wireless setup – you are ready to shop, purchase, and read right out of the box." from:

So, it appears there is no extra fees associated with the 3G part of the Kindle! :) Enjoy. ]
