I am considering getting an Amazon Kindle. The Kindle is $189 for the 3G + Wifi version.
My question is, do you have to pay monthly for the 3G or not? (link)

No, you DO NO have to pay for the 3G. I've had mine for about 3 months and the 3G always works. Amazon wants you to connect with them.... for obvious reasons. Some more good information here on this subject: http://fourteenthings.com/14things/2011/02/16/kindle-canada-readers-prefer-us-version-5/
