It could be something serious. You know what they say, better safe than sorry. They will fix you up in minutes instead of wasting money on treatments that don't seem to work for you. [ xxemilyfeil's advice column | Ask xxemilyfeil A Question ]

A hemorrhoid is an enlarged vein in the anus (it's also called a varicose vein). In a healthy person, the tissue around the anus fills with blood to regulate bowel movements. However, when there is constant pressure or other factors restricting blood flow, the veins become inflamed. Poor blood flow may cause a blood clot. That results in a painful, swollen, protruding hemorrhoid.
There are several potential causes:
Sitting or standing for long periods
Constipation or straining during bowel movements
Heavy lifting
Frequent diarrhea
Excess weight
Genetics
There are things you can do to relieve the discomfort.
Soak in a warm tub for 15 minutes.
Add fiber to your diet.
Apply cold pack to area to reduce swelling.
You should check out the health food store in your area to see if they have any suggestions.
