I don't get this whole "cliche" girl thing

Question Posted Wednesday September 1 2010, 9:21 pm

Okay. So it makes me really mad when maagazines or TV shows or movies or books make fun of the so called "cliche" blonde hair blue eyed girl. I'm sorry but look at the commercials on TV right now. Noone of the girls look like that! Look at movies and shows, the main charachter?? Doesn't normally look like that... Books? The blondie blue is always the bitchy air head. So I don't get it. It's like the media is trying to stay so far away from the tall blonde with blue eyes that they're making their own cliche. HAs anyone else noticed this?? Cuz I'm a skinny blonde hair blue eyed girl and it's just kind of annoying when girls who don't look like that diss the "cliche" becuase they don't realize that they aren't dissing a cliche, they're in fact dissing girls like me. Real people... So what gives? Has anyone else noticed this?

Yeah, I've noticed this. Countless times. But what are you gonna do? This is reality, this is our generation.. the best you can do is stick up for yourself and prove people wrong. Stereotypes are a huge issue, and blondes are apparently stupid and preppy which is not true for most cases! I know plenty blonde girls that are athletic, tomboyish, skater, etc. I wish you luck in proving people wrong. I know you will. And when that time comes, they'll feel like assholes and you'll feel amazing about yourself.

yes, i've noticed that. i've also noticed that the blonde hair, blue eyed girl (or boy) is always the love interest. the world has its own weird stereotypes for everything, like jockey boys are dumb and arrogant, girls with glasses are smart, the popular people are always the bitchiest, and so on. sometimes, we just learn to live with these. i'm dealing with a "dissed stereotype", myself. i dress in all black and have black hair and thick eye makeup. everyone at school either thinks i'm a satanist, emo or goth, but they're wrong. all of those don't even come close to what i really am. all that really matters is what you make yourself out to be, one day, we'll all figure it out. the rest of the people can go suck a big one if they don't get it.

thats kind of a sunday school answer, i know, but i get where you're coming from. you just learn to either laugh along, or ignore it all together.

take care
