I took in my sisters cat about a month ago and have realized that he goes to the bathroom WAY to much. I have had ALOT of cats in my time believe me and he pees as much as 3 cats would probably. I started with changing the catpan out twice a week and realized that was definitely not enough and have started doing it every other day realizing that even after two days the catpan needs changed and cannot be scooped.
Another thing that appeared odd to me is that he freaks out when water is turned on. He will get up and dart over to the sink to get a drink even though he has a full water dish that is filled fresh everyday. and recently has taken on meowing until we turn a facet on low for him to drink from. For some reason my sister thought he was just an unusual cat...but there hasn't been a time in my life where i haven't had at least 3 cats in my home until now where i only have this cat and he eats, drinks, and goes to the bathroom like i have 2-3 cats in the house.
I looked online and found that this could be Diabetes and since he is a male and has been neutered he is at higher risk of getting it. I have yet to go to the vet since i have a lack of money for this but am hoping with enough responses on this toward what it could be or if its nothing it will give me the courage to take him and use my money to help the poor thing.
Any input on this will help me greatly if i don't here anything back i will be taking him into the vet within the next week or two and even with responses do the same i would just like input before i do this... or ideas on what it could be rather than just jumping to conclusions with something terrible like diabetes.
