Complicated Texting Situation?

Okay so this guy from school I graduated high school with texted me like 6 months ago (we never talked in school) we talked on the phone and texted each other almost everyday when we hung out that one time he told me to call him when i got home so i got home safe which i thought was cute and didnt even try to kiss me or anything i just hugged him then we texted each other then it got to every 2 or 3 days we talked then we just stopped talking nothing happened bad or anything we just stopped talking well 6 months later he texts me out of the blue and says hey long time no talk that was two days ago first day we talked the whole day the second day he told me to text him but he texted me first right away instead and we talked all day then he asked if we could meet up in the middle of the night but I had work early the next day so i couldnt then he texted me the next day all day and said i could meet at his house the was drinking and i didnt want our second time hanging out to be with him drinking you know and let alone by ourselves ( he had the house to himself all weekend) but i said i couldnt come over but since the next day was 4th of july we could go in the city and see the fireworks and he didnt answer me until the next day at like 3 to say when im going down then he said he couldnt get down there he wqas working and couldnt go he said he was sorry but after we could meet up like around midnight but i was stuck in traffic in the city so i didnt get home until 1 in the morning then yesterday he didnt text me until the afternoon saying sorry i lost my phone i said its okay then he sid hows work i said fine you and he never answered me back now today i havent heard from him so i dont know if he thinks hes texted me too much or hes tired of trying to hang out or thinks im annoyed by him the thing is i dont answer texts back until like a hour or 2 after they text me its nothing personal all my friends and family know i dont get back to them right away i know im weird lol i wanted to hang out with him tomorrow possibly but im scared to text him..should i text him?
Sorry i sound so paranoid its just guys never want me as a girlfriend im always like the "make out" person so i always become catious when i like a guy because i dont want to get hurt I protect my heart. But this guy has a record of having long term relationships so i feel like something could happen here and maybe my luck will change i mean there is a reason why he thought to text me after all these months not talking right? lol sorry this is so long. But what should i do? should i text him to hang out tomorrow? should i wait for him to text me? im so confused! why do you think he contacted me? thanks so much! :)

He sounds desperate. Don't text him until he texts you back. He might be bored of all the texting. A rule of thumb for texting: less is more. Texts should be short and sweet or it gets tiring. Save the lengthy converations for face-to-face interaction.
If you must text him, text something simple, like hi.
Don't ask if he got your last text or why he hasn't answered you. Don't make a big deal about him not answering you.

Ok so it sounds to me that you like him too. ;) it also sounds like he likes you because he txted you after 6 months and I think you are right wen you said he would have to have a reason! :) haha ok so I would say yes, text him. Just be like hey at first and my guess is he will text you back. Once he has... Be like I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today or tomarrow? That way he has a before notice and he can clear his schedule for the next day or for the day you text him. He will be able to hang out probably so yes... Text him! :) It also sounds like the reason he contacted you was indeed because he likes you or has a thng for you. He would if you talked all day for two or three days!
