Does my nose automatically make me ugly?

Question Posted Friday July 2 2010, 1:49 am

All through middle school I was made fun of for my nose being big. I was in the "puberty process" & all that. But through out the years, I guess you could say I've grown into my nose? It's not as disproportionate to my face anymore. My main problem is the bump on my nose ... I'm not an ugly girl, but I have a bump on the bridge of my nose. It's not HUGE, & no one ever says anything to me about it. But I notice it & I hate it!

Does it make me ugly?

Additional info, added Friday July 2 2010, 1:58 am:
15/f if it matters.

& Another thing... I've told my mom that for my 16th birthday, I want a nose job instead of a car, because I dislike it THAT much. She's agreed to it. Do you think it's worth it?

I have a bit of a weird nose myself... the tip of it has a dent in it (my family calls it the bum-nose!) As a teenager, I always thought I'd get a nose job the moment I was old enough and could afford it. Funny thing is, I've come to like it now.

It's the little natural flaws that make you an individual. Just look at Heidi Montag: her need to make everything about her perfect and plastic has turned her into a cyborg-looking shadow of her former self. The quirks that seem awful when you're younger turn into things that make you an attractive human being, believe it or not.

Look at any extremely attractive celebrity and you'll see a flaw: crooked teeth on one, uneven eyes on another, bony elbows on yet another.

There are a few reasons to wait until you're older, at the very least. Your body and face will continue to change into your twenties (I look way different from how I did at 16). Also, your mind will change. You may regret the action later in life, and you can't exactly undo it.

Potential risks include:

bleeding
infection
reaction to anesthesia
hematoma (blood collecting under the skin)
recurring nosebleeds
breathing troubles
numbness
uneven appearance of the nose
scars
burst blood vessels apparent on the surface of skin
permanent nerve damage

You are only as beautiful as you think you are.

And I say if you want it go for it, just remember you cant take it back.
