Dating a separated man?

Question Posted Friday June 25 2010, 1:55 pm

My boyfriend was recently separated from his wife and they intend on getting a divorce. Should I wait to see the divorce papers and put the relationship on halt until then? I really love him and it doesn't effect me as much as you might think it would. He is 20 and I am 19. He married young and admits that it was a bad mistake. What do you guys think? I really really need advice..

Personally, I think as long as he really is seperated from his wife and in the process of getting a divorce, there's no issue with you dating him.

However, if you find it uncomfortable or immoral to date someone who isn't a totally free agent then by all means put the relationship on hold.

I would however give you a word of warning - divorces can be lengthy processes, you may find yourself waiting for a long time and the break may have a negative impact on your relationship.
