Does braces hurt after they are done putting them on?? My mom is getting me to get braces REALLY soon beccause my teeth are terriable .
Please help ; i am really scared they will hurt afterwarrds ,
And if i get them, what CAN i eat ? ;o
Start out by eating soft foods like soup or mac and cheese. I ate pudding and pretty much anything that i could swallow without having to chew at all.
A few days later i taught myself how to chew solid foods again, i would put small pieces in the back of my mouth and chewed with my wisdom teeth. So if you still have those, then they will be a better alternative. [ stella07's advice column | Ask stella07 A Question ]

It is also recommended not eating anything hot or sticky for awhile. Don't drink anything that is too cold, Cold will only increase the pain and most of all no gum. As a former gum chewer..Chewing gum was a big mistake on my part it got all over my braces and it was a pain to get out. Don't panic, The pain isn't anything extreme just a little bit of tenderness for the first few days. I would eat yogurt, jello, salads, pasta...anything soft for the first 3 days. es answered Monday June 21 2010, 1:06 pm: I had braces a couple of years ago and it varies from person to person. For me, I got my top and bottom put on seperately, on different days. My top didn't hurt at all! It was simple and I could eat whatever I wanted, it just felt like there was something attached to my teeth. However, when I got my bottom set put on, it hurt really badly. I couldn't eat anything for a day, including the softest foods like mashed potatoes. Luckily, I went back the next day and the orthodontist gave me a lighter wire.
Basically, it all depends on the wire they put in. If it's really thick, it usually applies a lot of pressure. If it's thin, you probably won't feel it. And if something is unconfortable or hurts, you can always go back and change. Make sure you communicate with your orthodontist.
And take advil/tylenol beforehand just in case :)
Good luck!
I promise it's not that bad, I just have a low pain tolerance. You'll be fine & you'll love how your mouth looks afterward! [ es's advice column | Ask es A Question ]

But they do have to hurt some ecause it means your teeth are moving which means they are getting straighter which is good news!!! Take a light pain killer such as
advil or alieve before you go get them so they will have started easing thenpain before you get them on! The end result it worth it in the end.. Remember: beauty is pain!!! Hope I helped
