Okay well my boyfriend needs me to send him a money gram. I have a few questions. First one. Doesn't western union do money grams and don't you pick them up the same way as any other money gram? Second one. I heard you can do them at walmart, if so how would I go about doing that? And if I chose to do it at walmart would I just put down the city where he is and he pick it up at ANY walmart in that city jurisdiction or would I need a specific walmart. And last but not least, if he were to receive one at walmart where would he go to pick it up and what would the procedure be?
From my experience, I would only use western union. I don't know of another provider in the US, but if there is one, I can't think of a reason to use them.
Typically, the person sending the money goes to a western union location, and provide them with the money and the info of the person your are sending money to. They will give you a number that you need to give to the person who wants to pick up the money. Then the person who is picking up the money, goes to a western union location in their town, and use that number and their ID to pick up the money.
It is typically very straight forward and easy.
As a note: Wal-Mart is fine, but there are many, many places that offer the moneygram service, just for your info. If you use walmart, just go to the customer service desk and let them know what you want to do. They will walk you through the form, and you will be one your way.
One note: KEEP YOUR COPY OF THE PAPERWORK! Sorry to shout, but that paperwork in the ONLY tie to your money once you hand it over. Should you need a record of the transaction, that is your only record, typically.
I usually use my local pharmacy to send these when needed, just because the customer service is SO much better than walmart.
