Working out gives you quicker period

Question Posted Wednesday June 16 2010, 12:15 pm

I heard that if you work out and exercise a lot that your periods are shorter and you don't get as many cramps. I just started to exercise last week but my period is the same this month. Well, I'm just curious if the stuff I read is true and if I should expect my periods to get better in a month or two.

Does exercising regularly cause you periods to be shorter and go by quicker? And is it safe to exercise while I'm on my period too?

Workig out whil on your period is perfectly safe. I do know that working out does help cramps because it is good to have your body moving and working out the muscles, I think. However, I'm not sure if it makes it lighter. I work out regularly, and my periods are light.. Soo maybe? On that one.

Hope I helped :)

yes it is safe to workout when your on your period. for some people working out can make your period lighter. also some other ways to make your period lighter is yoga. or if you are really stressed out calmming down and relaxing can give you a lighter period. Eliminate fatty red meats and full-fat dairy, as these foods contain arachadonic acids that contribute to cramping. :)

hope that helps <3
