Birth control can regulate your period to the point where you know exactly when it's going to arrive. For example, mine ALWAYS comes around 6pm on the Thursday after my last pill of the month.

It can also make your periods lighter and shorter, as well as giving you more control over them.

Speak to your doctor for the right type for you.

Because of the hormones in it, it regulates your period. That is why certain types shorten it (the pill I'm on claims to shorten it down to only three days, other types are supposed to only give you 4 periods a year).
