I just got the Hot Tools 1.5" Curling Iron and I'm excited to use it! I heard that in order to get waves, you shouldn't use the clamp. My question is how do you wrap your hair around the curling iron without using the clamp? It's not working for me.
Thanks :)

When I use it without the clamp, I put the iron as close to my roots as possible without it burning me and I wrap the hair around the barrel and hold it onto the barrel. I put a glove on sometimes so it doesn't get too hot on my fingers. If you want loose beach curls, leave the last two inches of your hair uncurled or else it'll give too much of a tamed look and make your curls look too perfect to be loose curls. Also, barrels that are smaller in diameter might result in more of Taylor Swift curls ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location)) than loose waves.
