Replacing hard disk

Question Posted Saturday March 20 2010, 9:08 am

How much would it cost to buy a new hard disk for a 4-year-old Compaq laptop?

And is there a good place / website (other than the HP website) that I can get it at a good price?

Go to Newegg.com or some similar computers site. just about any 2.5 inch hard drive should work as long as your computer isn't too compact. They'll probably be around $100

Unless you're already expecting on reinstalling the operating system and everything with the software that your computer came with, you'll also need a way to transfer your data (including the operating system and programs) over to the new drive before it will really work in your computer, that means you'll need a hard drive enclosure and software made to do that so you can transfer everything before the drive swap.

Here's a Laptop drive search on Newegg:

Good Luck!
