Okay, I am in highschool, and I am thinking about my college plans for after I graduate! I am very serious about my future, and I am just frustrated that i don't know 100% What I want to be when I grow up, and other people know from the moment they're old enough to talk!
Here's a little about what i would like:
.make good money say 50,000 and up
.care for people (preferally not elder)
.help people
.somthing in the medical feild
And I know that addresses a very broad search of careers.
So we visited a community college today and they talked about respiratory therapist, and how they make good money and get vacation time, and are in demand. They didn't say what the career envolved particuarly.
So I was just wondering if some one could give me an insight into respiratory therapist, and if you have any career suggestions. ANYTHING helps thanks!
Melody answered Tuesday March 9 2010, 6:32 pm: If you go into respiratory therapy, whether you want to be an M.D. or an assistant, you will be dealing with the elderly. It only makes since, because older people are usually the ones that have respiratory problems.
"Respiratory Therapists are members of the health care team that provides respiratory care for patients with heart and lung disorders. Respiratory Therapists perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with patients of all ages and are qualified to perform intensive care, critical care, neonatal and emergency room procedures. "
I got that off of my college's website.
Don't stress out. I am in college and still don't know what I want to do 100 percent either. With the criteria you gave, I think you should consider the following besides repiratory therapy:
One of my good friend's sister is a repiratory therapist and the money is great. She started right out of high school and is making a pretty good amount of money. However her hours are awful. She works from 6 in the evening until 6 in the morning or something like that. When she gets hope all she wants to do is sleep. That's something you will want to think about going into the health profession.
