Additional info, added Sunday March 7 2010, 6:59 pm: I guess that's not the best image of the look I'm after. What size curling iron would I need to get waves like these:
If that doesn't work get the biggest barrel size you can find on a curling iron and wrap your hair around it and hold. Since she has waves you might need to shake out your hair and loosen up the curls you get. You could also use a curling iron and wrap it around not using the clamp to give a wavey look.
There are also waver irons that are for waves specifically. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
You might need to play around with different products and techniques to get it just right.

If I were you id get a big one (like a 1.5 or 2 inch barrel) and then brush the curls out and put mousse or hairspray in it to keep it from getting flat.
