Depends on the underwear and the material they are made from. For example, you shouldn't wear thongs every day and try to stick to cotton underwear, as cotton lets your skin breathe and doesn't irritate.
Just try to keep those special ones for special occasions and don't let your "down there" area always be trapped under clothing that makes you hot etc - just like any other body part to be honest :)

i have also heard that it depends on what you eat as well. (both men and women).

always wear underware. good lord, take a shower and use a soap or body wash. thats where the good smell comes in at. and if you want to smell good down there change your underware every day. but not wearing underware is going to make you red and your skin is going to get all itchy.
