Ankle So my ankle cracked while doing some fitness training. I had a scan which showed I now have floating bone in my ankle.
My GP booked me in to see a specialist. The specialist has booked me in for surgery in 4 weeks time. (the injury is already 2 weeks old)
I have an appointment with the specialist tomorrow as he has not yet seen my ankle. He only booked in the surgery due to what the report of my scan said.
Thing is, I can walk on my ankle fine. I don't get any pain from walking nor moving it around. I can stand and balance on it with no pain at all.
Question is. Do you think this could be an old injury and I have just badly sprained my ankle? I have rolled my ankle many times before. I just really hope I don't need surgery.
Thanks :)

i have always had ankle injuries, and i've been told everything from use crutches, to wear this brace, to you need a cast, to you need surgery. many doctors have different opinions on ankles, it's a common yet strange injury. if you did sprain it badly, you wouldn't be able to stand or balance on it. a sprain is when the tendons and ligaments loosen or tear, and the little muscles are weakened. i think you should get a second opinion, and wait awhile before you rush into surgery. hope i helped(: ]
Your injury is probally old, you most likely will still hafta get the surgery done. i mean there is a piece of the bone floating in there, if it is a sprain it goes the same way, so either way you want to look at it, you still will hafta get surgery ]
