Urinary tract infection :/

Question Posted Tuesday February 16 2010, 7:12 pm

16/f

I think I might have a urinary tract infection. I checked the symptoms online, and they all match up. I'm going to tell my mom to take me to the doctor, but I'm worried he'll ask me questions about it in front of my mom and I don't want my mom to find out that I am sexually active, because I think that's what caused it :/ I don't have a car so I can't take myself to the doctor's,so she'll have to take me but I just don't want the doctor to ask me in front of my mom if i've had sex :/ please help, any advice will do thanks!

you dont have to have your mom in the room with you just tell the dr that you would rather deal with him alone. they will respect your wishes its dr patient confidentialitty. A uti can be caused from holding your urine too long causing an infection it has nothing to do with sex.

hon you have to tell your mom you had sex. I know its uncomfortable and you don't want to. But she's going to have to know. She NEEDS to know. because when you want birth control, she's going to have to be there to get it. also, don't you want to be able to tell your mom anything?? Like say you really need advice and need someone to talk to... and say its embarassing. well if you tell your mom about this, then any other problem wont' be as bad

take my advice because i would do ANYTHING to go back in time and change the relationship between me and my mother. I kept a lot of secrets from her and pretty soon, 1 secret led to another and eventually I hid my whole life from her. Its not that I wanted to hid it from her.. its just life. Its how life works. 1 lie leads to another and eventually it all become a mess. So now me and my mother don't really share much information and its tough for me because i've realized what i've done wrong. and whenever i want to go to her for advice, i can't. because she doesn't trust me anymore.

Its really easy to lose someone's trust. but really hard to gain it all back. My mom lost my trust because i've lied so much. but now i realized what i did wrong and i know that its wrong.

so do me a favor and tell your mom. I would give anything to be able to tell my mom the truth about things. be grateful you have a mother who listens to you and whom you can tell anything to.

good luck

Tell your mom, before you get there, that you want to go into the doctors exam room alone.

She might be suspicious, you can't control that. But you also can't lie to a doctor. So prepare your Mom so there are no sudden suprises: You are old enough, and you want to speak to the doctor by yourself.
