Can I still grow to my full potential?

Question Posted Monday January 25 2010, 9:30 pm

I'm 14 and barely 5 feet. I started my period pretty early - the summer before I became a 6th grader, and I'm paranoid that I won't grow anymore... My dad is 5'7" and my mom was 4'11". I reckon I remember my very first doctor said my potential height is 5'2" and I was wondering if I really can see that dream come true. For the past few weeks, I've been sleeping alot (not because I was desperate to grow, I was just soo tired lately) and I've also been doing yoga stretches before I go to bed and I actually grew almost an inch in a month. But my growing has stopped. Should I switch my yoga rutine to the morning to get the best possible results? And do I still have a chance to reach 5'2"?

You're only 14, you'll probably reach 5'2" no matter what you do. In fact, let's put money on it. Inbox me when you're 21 with your height.

But as far as doctors judging height, in my limited experience (I am only one person, obviously) it was pretty accurate. My doctor said I would be 5'8" or 5'9", with a possible maximum of 5'10". I'm 5'10.5". And I only started legitimately growing when I was 15 or 16.

So yea, you're only 14. You have time to reach your Napoleonic threshold.

I actually heard that working out can make you grow? I guess when you stimulate your body, muscles, etc it causes growth. I'm 5'2 and it's pretty average. Also, you're only 14 which means you're not done growing yet, at least until your 18 so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I was about 5 feet when I was your age, and I've grown since then and I'm now 18. Don't be too stressed out over this, you're still young.
