Saw a snake

Question Posted Sunday January 24 2010, 7:16 pm

Does anyone know what kind of snake this is? It was probably right around 3ft long. I found it on a trail in the panhandle of Florida near Pensacola.

Maybe a corn snake? If you had a better picture of the head it would help. A venomous snake would have a triangular head...Cottonmouths, Rattlesnakes, Copperheads, etc. The photo doesn't seem to show a triangular head, but, the angle of the photo isn't clear.

I'm thinking either cottenmouth or diamond-back.
