Why didn't "Skins" series 2 have a happy ending?

Question Posted Saturday January 16 2010, 7:43 pm

I just watched the entire series in like less than a week and just saw the finale. and i feel so sad.. okay chris dead.. wtf he was my favorite character!!!!! like when i think about which character i'd miss the most or which character I'd love to know in real life from seasons 1&2 its definitely Chris (with Tony a close second haha). And I felt sooo sad they had to split.. what happened to that guy who was with Cassie anyways in NY? why did he leave? i dont get that part.. and why Cassie was crying (from episode 9.. Cassie's ep, season 2 obv) when he left. did she want to be with him or Sid? And then I just wanted to see more of them! like what happened to Tony and Michelle.. they definitely should be together but their universities are so far away from each other. And then yeah like with Chris dying I felt so bad for Jal!!!! ****, her and Chris were the perfect couple. Chris was such a great boyfriend. I even felt bad for Sketch when in the beginning of the season I despised her. but if Anwar stayed with her it would be a pretty tame life for him so i think its great he went to london with maxxie and his bf.. not like he would have gotten into a university. i wonder why he did so bad in school too.. wow. omg but what about his parents? he'll just leave them behind? haha i wish Skins wasnt so depressive.. everyone's life isn't a **** up! omg and the ending was so BA its ridiculous. with Effy raising her eyebrows cause shes gonna be in the new season. I hate how I could tell Chris was gonna die too... there were so many hints. Blahh im just gonna miss watching them. I guess I'll watch the new season but im a bit worried if it will be as good as the past 2. im watching them online btw, i live in the states.

And Cassie is such a ***** sometimes with her snarky remarks! gosh. maybe chris wouldnt have died if she took better care of him. Jal too, actually. She should have told Chris sooner.. talked to Chris sooner. then they would have told each other their secrets. And all the characters in the show needed to be more forgiving! like it took them so long to get over things. and Jal should have used a fricken condom or birth control! i cant believe none of the other characters got preggo so its ironic that jal of all people does.

I mean I know Season 1 was sad too.. but now its even sadder cause its all over. WAHHHH :(

It's just a tv show, seriously. Who cares? I do, really, really love skins too, I don't like season 3 as much as the first two, but it isn't too bad. I think the point of the show is to show that not everyone's lives are perfect and people do fuck up sometimes, but it shows that, that isn't so bad because you can still have a fun time while fucking up your life.

Wow... you must really, really like this show huh? lol

The ending was supposed to be bittersweet. The writers wanted to tie up loose ends while still leaving a sense of mystery. The characters were being replaced so they needed to make sure the ending was final but without the viewers being disappointed. As the characters were going their separate ways to different universities and cities, it wasn't practical for all the couples to get back together and be happy.

Chris would always have died, he had a serious condition, it didn't matter how well Cassie took care of him. You have to remember that Cassie struggled with depression and an eating disorder, she wasn't in the perfect state to look after or be in a relationship with anyone.

Season 3 (and 4 which is just starting here in the UK) is different but it's not terrible. It's difficult to adjust to because the characters are different but it has its own appeal.

I only actually watch it because it's filmed in the city where I live and everyone knows at least ten people who have been in it and hate how they change the geography. It's a bit of a running joke.
