Well if there are any clubs at schools or maybe a church nearby. Joining a choir is the first step to singing....when you can sing and harmonize with others its the one of the basic steps. From the choir there may even be more opportunities! Or maybe join a local community theatre in your area look in a newspaper or online of things in your area I'm sure you'll find something having to do with singing. Good luck! :)

that used to be me too, and my mom wouldnt spend the $$ on voice lessons. if you have comcast, or probably any cable service for that matter, go to the "on demand" section. if you go to music, you'll see something there that says something like "voice lessons" or something along those lines. randy and paula from american idol coach you and teach you all the different skills you need to learn. ive asked people, and they've said its helped them quite a bit, and its the perfect option if you dont want to spend lots of $$ on lessons. also, if you have a wii, you can buy singit!, its usually only $20-$30, which is a lot less than what you'd be spending on lessns, and they have lessons that you can do before you start the game and you can go back to them whenever you want, and do them over and over.

hope i helped! xoxo

usually schools have chorus, but you might not be in school, so you could try downloading like voice techniques for singing, im not sure exactly what to call it, but cds for vocal practice and sing along to it.
