buying condoms

Question Posted Friday January 1 2010, 10:53 pm

17/f
I've wanted to just go to the store and pick up a box of condoms, but I'm too embarrassed to do more than just glance at the packages as I walk through the aisle at the drugstore. Any suggestions how to make the buying process less scary?

Well I make my boyfriend get them. If you have to get them on your own then buy other stuff too so it isn't obvious. The person checking you out prob won't notice or care. Oh and do not do a self check out!!!!! Most of the time the machine announces what you scan. That would be alot worse considering everyone around you would hear that you were buying condoms!!

Go to a franchise like Walmart or Meijers and use the self-checkout line.

Just go somewhere I you usually don't go and maybe paying at like the pharmacy part or the store would help more because the pharmasists are probably used to teens coming in and buying condoms.. And just remember condoms are easier to buy then baby stuff !

Just go to a 7/11. No big deal. Except the cashier will notice you've grown up from buying slurpees to buying condoms.

Well...

A, go somewhere you don't regularly shop, because then no one will remember you and that will make you feel better.

B, just grab them, and get some snacky foods. It really is a help to have the whole thing covered up.

C, remember that condoms are less embarassing to buy than telling your parents that you're pregnant... that always helped me man up...

D, if you're just too embarassed, find a younger kid and have him go buy them. They think it's a rush. My boyfriend and I made his 14 yr old friend do this back when I was like 16. It was funny, and I got my condoms embarassment free.

Go on your own. Chances are that you won't run into anyone you know, and strangers in the store aren't going to pay attention to what you buy.

Buy something else along with it if you must. That should help draw your attention (and anyone else's, if just in your imagination) away from the condoms. Make it something else you actually need. Don't buy something else just for the sake of it.

Once you get used to buying condoms, you'll realise that it's no big deal. If you need them, buy them.
