awww no worries girl, im here to help :] it took me a long time to start using tampons, but remember, if you want to start out using pads, thats totally okay.
anyways, im 17 and i didnt use a tampon until i was 16.. i tried and tried but it would hurt [because i wasnt doing it correctly, although i didnt know] but i suggest using the smallest sized tampon you can buy, to start off or a regular sized one then start moving up as you keep doing it. also, i suggest you take a tampon and see how it works [without putting it inside you] first. just take one out, and press the bottom of it so you can see how it comes out of the tube and stuff. its a good guide :]
where the hole is: right at the bottom of your vagina, kind of middle-ish. its a little bit before your but cheeks are seen. you cant miss it :]
steps:
1. get confortable: go into your bathroom and sit down on the toilet [with the seat up] and relax. or stand up with your right or left leg [whichever is more comfrtable for you] up on the toilet, or you can just stand up straight, over your toilet, and spread both your legs apart. just find a position that suits you best and try not to be too tense.
2. dont think about it: i know that seems really hard to do, but inserting a tampon in the first time will be kind of nerve racking, since a foreign object is being put into your vagina. but if you relax, put some music on, and concentrate on your breathing, you'll be fine :]
3. slowly insert: once you are in a comfortable position, take the tampon and slowly insert the tip of it into your vagina. [the hole, it only fits in one hole, so dont worry about not knowing where it goes]
4. too dry: if you think that your tampon is too dry and wont go in [as your first starting to put the tip in your vagina] remove it, and put some warm water on the tip, to help make it more slick so it can glide in easier.
5. i usually look down when im doing it, to see hoe far in the tampon is going, so i suggest you do that until you become a pro at putting in tampons ;] while inserting the tampon, it'll hurt a little bit, because you're tight and you'll probably start to tense up, but dont stop, keep working through the pain, because after the first pain, it wont hurt anymore.
6. insert it at an angle: while your inserting it, dont go straight in, make sure it is tilted. if you are looking down at the tampon while putting it in, it should be tilted a little bit towards yourself [not away] and dont just go straight up.
7. when you are pushing the tampon in, hold it by the string at the bottom with your index finger and your thumb, once your index finger and your thumb hit the opening of your vagina, push the bottom of the tampon up, and the tampon will be released into your vagina.
8. after doing this, get up and walk around, if you cant feel it, you did it right, if you can feel lit and it hurts, you did it wronf [its okay if you did it wrong the first time, practice makes perfect]
9. if done right: yay good for you ! but if done wrong, take it out.
10. taking tampon out: take the tampon out by slowly pulling the string down.. i got really scared the first time i did it because i thought it would hurt so badly, and then i got really tense, and it did kind of hurt. but if you relax your muscles, it wont hurt at all.. so when taking it out, just pull slowly, and flush it down the toilet.
11. done :]

hope i helped ! and dont worry about it, youll do fine, even if you have to do it a couple times before you get it right, youll eventually get the hang of it ! dont be scared, its nothing, you got this :] if you need anything else, im always here. good luck ! xxo.
