i know this may sound dumb but what does spooning mean

I like how you titled your question "I have a question". It made me laugh :).

Spooning is when you hug someone from behind. I guess you could say it is a form of cuddling. I found a cute link of bears that are spooning.

spooning: A form of affection between a couple. Where the man lays front to back with the girl. They fit together like spoons.

it can either be a sexual gesture, a romantic one, or a friendly one. it's basically cuddling.
