Tap Tap Revenge is a good game if you like playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

Download Unblock Me if you're into puzzles and block games.

I'm on my touch now!:) I love it! Anyway, just browse the app store and read the discriptions. I am absolotly in love and addicted to a game called runway. It's about planes. Your best bet is to go to the app store go under the type of games you like then click free only. And enjoy!!

It really dpeends on what type of person you are and how old you are, I guess. But here are the basics (and they're all free apps):

AIM. Either the free or the paid version (the only difference between the two is no ads and landscape typing for the paid version, i believe). Not only does it connect you to your buddy list, but lets you text your friends for free :)

Shazam. A must if you're the type of person that wants to know what song they're listening to on the radio / in a store / etc. It recognizes most songs ; the not-so-mainstream ones tend to stay off its radar.

Fandango. Lets you check local movie times, etc.

Dropbox. Lets you store files, etc. on your phone. Can be pretty useful.

Pandora. A nice radio that suggests new music for you based on your taste.

I didn't include games because you never mentioned what types you like :
