Pay attention to the color, thickness, and smell. If it smells horrible, is yellowish or greenish, and is thick; then you should go see a doctor. Those colors indicate infection.
You compared it to snot? Thats normal
If this same type of discharge has been coming out for the past year i really don't think you have anything to worry about; if it was an infection you would have been experiencing serious symptoms by now.
Let me know if you have any other questions or if you left something out.

See a gynecologist pronto. Discharge is normal but not if it causes a burning sensation, itching, is clumpy or smells bad. They can treat it so you're free of it.

If you've had this occur for over a year than you really should act on it. I don't know why you waited but don't wait any longer. There's no reason to have to deal with it much longer.
